At the beginning I suppose.
My good lady is a Librarian. She’s specialises in the children’s section. She buys all the children’s books for East Riding Libraries.
In 1997 she told me about a new book she’d read. Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone. She said she had thoroughly enjoyed the book and it was going to be a huge hit.
And she was right. Over the coming years as each book was released, she queued at the local book shop at 12 o’clock midnight and spent the weekend reading it. I lived on take aways and burnt toast.
I can’t recall when but approximately three years ago I suggested we make our dining room into a “Harry Potter Room”. The reply was swift and enthusiastically positive.
Today we made yet another trip to Ikea. I know, somebody shoot me. We’ve made three in the last week and at 120 miles round trip it’s half a day out.
We’ve been buying shelves and much to my eternal dislike Ikea had the best option available. The dining room isn’t particularly large and I’ve got my desktop pc and computer screen at one end. We’ve still managed to squeeze some Harry Potter figurines and Lego in.
We’re not quite finished but when we are I’d like to put some photographs up.
It doesn’t stop there though. I noticed in 2021 when I was buying Harry Potter Lego & figurines for my good lady that our daughter was getting a little, well shall we say, a little envious. Which in fairness I get. She see’s herself as Mum’s equal when Dad’s putting together a Harry Potter Room.
So she has a room of her own upstairs in a spare bedroom. A Star Wars Room. It’s in its early days.
All this leads up to the reason I’ve posted. I’ve struggled to find display units and shelves for the Lego. Having joined Pinterest for inspiration I’ve found myself sat in absolute awe at some of the Lego creations out there. Apart from the simple fact that some people have clearly got way too much time on their hands their abilities with Lego go way beyond the extra mile.
They really have got exceptional talent and an enviable commitment to their hobby. None of the images that will follow will be of standard Lego sets.
