First, Judith Durham and then Olivia Newton-John. Although I had not heard much of ether for some time, they were both in their own way, highly talented and it is a sad that they are no longer with us.
In fact my weather today is not that far short of Perth WA in January.

With all there are to pick from you choose a Yank, a Kiwi, and a pedo (but yeah he's from WA)Snorvey wrote:In other news, Mel Gibson, Russell Crowe and Rolf Harris are all still alive.
Next thing you'll be telling us Rod Stewart is Scottish? Or Shane MacGowan is Irish?

For anyone not old enough to remember Judith Durham (and her magnificent voice)
take just 3 minutes to listen

Yes, I remember it well. My Grandad even liked them. The Carnival is truly over.pje16 wrote:For anyone not old enough to remember Judith Durham (and her magnificent voice)

I agree and the harmonies were terrific as well. Thanks for digging that out because I always loved her voice. Some think it corny to like her but these days where there is so much cynicism it is wonderful to hear that clear unadulterated music.pje16 wrote:For anyone not old enough to remember Judith Durham (and her magnificent voice)

I thought they were very enjoyable, and dug out my old compilation CD on reading of her death - and I still find them very enjoyable.Dod101 wrote:I agree and the harmonies were terrific as well. Well, people used to think Abba was corny. I think those people ended up being very much the minority.
My grandparents had an old reel-to-reel tape recorder when I was little and one of their tapes was The Seekers, so I remember them from a very young age. When my grandfather died in 1976, the reels lay untouched for years. When I went through them, I realised two things: the old tape recorders sounded absolutely bloody awful, but The Seekers were amazing!
There is one song that brings back so many memories and emotions that I cannot listen to it.
