I'm sorry, but why is this even a news story?

Loads of people have covid, and for most of them of his age who are vaccinated, it will be no worse than getting a cold.
We seem to have descended into covid obsession and hysteria. Someone pass Ed the tissues.
Oh no, Ed Sheeran has covid!

Re: Oh no, Ed Sheeran has covid!
He's probably a bit twitchy about disappointing his adoring fans. Four years ago, he managed to crack bones in both arms while falling off his bike, and had to cancel four concerts during his world tour. Yes, four whole concerts. Must have been a pretty bad break, that.
Seriously, the guy is plainly a touring workaholic. 300-odd tour dates, non-stop. He's due for a few days off.

He's a bona fide "big deal" - there aren't really that many artists in the same league at the moment (popularity wise)
- and this does scunner the promo stuff in quite big way
That advance track he did though with the 80s vampire style video was utter pish
I don't doubt it will be better live without all the studio nonsense
- which is to be fair one of the most appealing things about Ed
- he's almost this generation's John Martyn in that regard - wonder what John would have made of a looper
