Good news

“Only modest differences in vaccine effectiveness were noted with the delta variant as compared with the alpha variant after the receipt of two vaccine doses. Absolute differences in vaccine effectiveness were more marked after the receipt of the first dose. This finding would support efforts to maximize vaccine uptake with two doses among vulnerable populations.”

... though probably strengthens the argument that a third dose for those doubly vaccinated with Astra should be an mRNA vaccine (and maybe, vice-versa).

I believe the main argument for that sequence was to reduce the chance of the immune system neutralising the adenovirus carrier vector of the AZ before the "payload" of the spike protein would be noticed (essentially recognising and burning the envelope before getting the information it needed)
- a problem that the mRNA tech fundamentally circumvents

Probably an argument for getting an AZ if you've had Pfizer for a bit of variety/coverage (if it made sense given the risk v reward profile for your age etc)

You’re probably right there, though I’d say that the “variety” argument is trumps.
