The EU is in relative decline economically, has just seen 15% of its population opt to leave it

Still wondering how you calculated this percentage - saw it on the side of a bus?

You are missing the joke, although it's a little less than 15% if you use higher precision.

Population of EU in 2019 513.5 million
Population of EU in 2020 447.7 million

If you still don't get it most of 2020 is after Jan 31 2020, and the population of the UK is 66.7 million.

Try to keep up - 17.4 million decided to 'opt out'.

LOL, talk about dancing on a pin. 17.4 M might have voted, but the country decided to opt out, based on our democratic system. Either way, the fact is that the EU lost about 15% of its population. And a much bigger % than that of its economic clout.

What percentage decided to "stay in" on that basis?

Isn't this kind of niggling tiresome yet?

It might not suit all, but the Coronavirus Discussions part of this site was set up to be a place where such "politics" weren't to be discussed. So much so that the Forum Rules expressly state such.
