Do you use lateral flow tests?

Yes, at least twice a week. I have to, for example, due to my job.

We don't have numbers of deaths from covid.
We have an inflated measure* that contains "with" and "of" and so is pretty much useless unless we know the "of" figure - which we never will.

*The old 'positive test then gets killed by being knocked over by a bus within 28 days' figure.
The 'excess deaths' figures give a pretty good broad picture of 'lethalness' of covid, everything taken into account.

Conveniently ignored by the "of or with?' water-muddiers.

Tried to get a final free box of LFT tests today (last day). Left it a bit late - nobody had any!

I have a box with 5 left in it. I very much doubt that I will ever use another. Would you like to make me an offer on this antique of the future?

Is that "order the free ones" or "buy"?

I ask because if it's the free ones, then I expect there are a lot of folk stockpiling before the cutoff, whereas if it's the purchased tests, that seems a bit worse, as I'd have thought there are still some people who really can't afford to catch covid, so they, and the people in contact with them, will be wanting tests no matter what.

The free ones.

As you may be aware the govt originally stated that over 75s would be eligible for free LFTs after 1 April. They withdrew that 'offer' about 7/10 days ago. Hence I - and I suspect many other over 75s - have tried rather unsuccessfully to order in advance of the deadline.

This is not the place to discuss the ethics of pouring yet more money into Randox et al - so just factually indicating yet another cost to be borne post 1 April that the govt have made yet another a u-turn.
