Has anyone tried to manage their booking?

Post by Fluke »

They're now doing my age group and I received an invitation to book my vaccines online a couple of weeks ago which I duly did, all very simple and straight forward. In the mean time I signed up as a volunteer Marshall at a local vaccine centre and did my first shift earlier this week. It's a new centre so it was slow on the first few days so at the end of the shift a nurse asked if I wanted my vaccine now, I said yes (put me in bed for a couple of days but that's another story). Anyway, I went onto the booking site and selected 'manage my booking', all you have to do is enter your NHS number, date of birth and it should take you to the page to change or cancel your appointment, it doesn't I'm met with a blank page that just hangs there. I use Safari so I tried it with Chrome and the same thing happened.

Has anyone else tried managing their vaccine booking?

Yes. Worked perfectly.

Just hours after booking online, I got a call from my GP offering an appointment nearer and sooner, so I cancelled the online one. No problem. Got an email confirmation of the cancellation moments later.

This was on http://www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination. Did you use some local system?

This is the link I'm using:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir ... ccination/

Scroll down and click on 'manage my appointments'. Tried restarting, same result in both Safari and Chrome. This is the message I'm getting from Chrome. Just thought this might be a question for one of the Lemonaid boards since it is working okay for you gryff, but anyway:
This http://www.nhs.uk page can’t be found No web page was found for the web address: https://www.nhs.uk/book-a-coronavirus-v ... e-of-birth
HTTP ERROR 404
So as of now my appointment for next Wednesday remains uncancelled.

I arranged both appointments using the phone service (dial 119). Shortly afterwards the second appointment was cancelled (they sent me a text).

I rebooked the second appointment using the NHS England online service (link below, my browser is Firefox). The only difficulty was that the system wouldn't let me book the second appointment until the day after I had had my first injection.

I believe that you can cancel and rearrange your bookings using the phone service.

Still works for me. I can still get right through and edit - although of course there's nothing to edit.
If I click on your link, it jumps back to the previous page - NHS number.

Just a thought - have you allowed cookies for that site? Maybe it can't get to the DoB page without that?

Failing that, try the phone number.

The link you gave is working fine for me - Chrome on Windows 10. I had my first jab via another route in January. I can't edit my booking via this site because it knows I had a jab but not through this system. So, I think you may have fallen into a problem area - phoning is probably the only way of cancelling your appointment. I don't think not turning up will be a big problem though - the concern is make sure people get jabbed, not to tell them off for not turning up...

Following your given link (Opera browser, Windows 8) I get:

https://www.nhs.uk/book-a-coronavirus-v ... nhs-number
Do you know your NHS number?
Your NHS number is a 10 digit number, like 485 777 3456.

You can find it on any letter the NHS has sent you, on a prescription, or by logging in to a GP practice online service.

○ Yes, I know my NHS number
○ No, continue another way

Continue
Toggling either option and clicking Continue leads to the appropriate next page. So there definitely seems to be a problem somewhere your end.

Not sure if your browsers share (any) resources, but it might just be worth clearing cache and cookies, and perhaps using a private/stealth window.

Are you on a dysfunctional excuse for an ISP, such as Virgin? Do you have an alternative, such as a phone with data?

Ha! Thanks for the 119 number, just called and was told that my nhs number/dob combo was throwing up an error, turns out the system snarls everything up if it gets wind of the fact that you’ve been vaccinated before your allotted appointment (obviously not for everybody as per earlier posts). She basically said to leave it a couple of weeks then go back and check if your second appointment is still in place, if not rebook.

Problem solved. Thanks everybody.

PS I wasn’t so much worried about being told off as wanting to release the slot for someone else :)
