Dorothy Torry recently died aged 100. She was secretary to six directors general at the BBC, including the corporation’s founder Lord Reith. Very unusually at that time she returned to work after maternity leave. When she was in hospital at the age of nearly 101 she took three pieces of music with her: Mahler’s second symphony, Beethoven’s ninth and Dark Side of the Moon. So why the post on the Music board? Well, Dorothy Torry was the mother of Clare Torry who provided the vocals on Pink Floyd’s Great Gig in the Sky. She was very proud of her daughter.

There's an interesting interview with Clare Torry on how she got involved with Great Gig in the Sky:cinelli wrote:Dorothy Torry recently died aged 100.
