I have generally enjoyed Silent Witness, you just have to suspend disbelief at some of the levels of involvement. The quote above about there being very few practitioners does at least explain why they seem to be called out to pretty much every murder scene south of Birmingham. What annoyed me the most about this recent series is the overall 'do-gooder' side to Nikki Alexander, especially in the first story about people trafficking. It came back in the final story set in Mexico, and perhaps being left for dead in what seemed to be an underground tomb but (spoiler) turned out to be a cupboard might put her off sticking her nose in quite so much next time, and stick to the stuff we watch it for.

Waking the Dead was similarly good, but I could never figure out why they didn't turn a few more lights on. It's no wonder Eve's character always had headaches and was in a foul temper, with the offices being almost entirely in darkness.
