Vanguard Managed Payout Fund (VPGDX)

I've just discovered this, and wonder what people here think of it?

I note they say it's "intended to supplement your other sources of retirement income" but they don't elaborate, presumably because they can't guarantee a 4% payout over time. Intriguing though...

Doesn't look like you can buy it in the UK, mind you.

It's a US fund of funds, investing within the Vanguard range.

Yes, but at half the TER compared to doing it yourself.

Seems there are others. Didn't know this was a thing.

US market though. Not necessarily available or appropriate to the UK investor.

I'm surprised I hadn't seen this kind of thing mentioned before though. On the face of it, it makes sense as an investment product targeted at those who want to minimise the faff of managing draw down and asset allocations by (presumably) leaving that to an algorithm. At least, the charges imply there's no active management going on. Like a sort of third asset class: stocks, bonds, cash, "robo income".
