Here is a book recommended by Monevator that looks interesting:

Not sure this book is suitable for me: from the customer reviews:
A masterclass in dissecting the long history of empirical evidence applicable to safe withdrawal rates, and then strategies to employ to make sure that the people have the highest probability of lasting longer than their money

The look inside is rather short, but the analysis begins with highlighting the stark difference between the probabilistic (probability of going bust) approach with the "first ensure that you will have enough money to cover essential expenditure" approach. The customer review clearly would not be accurate, even without the typo.

I read the book, and found it interesting. It's aimed at IFAs rather than consumers, but is relatively engaging and not too data-heavy.
