Yes Snorvey, it is truly outrageous how the young are financially exploited by their elders.
Slavery is alive and well, it is just hidden better.

For a laugh I got some annuity quotes when I crystallised my SIPP. I cannot remember the full details now, but on the level annuity I worked out that to generate the same income from a DIY gilt ladder, the ladder would take me beyond the age of 100.

One problem annuity providers have, and especially so the type Snorvey was quoted, is that they are now optional products. That means people are less inclined to buy unless they think they will live longer than average. Annuity providers therefore are bagging less from those who die early.
