People Whose Name Suits Their Job

Post by WickedLester »

Here's a couple I came across recently which made me giggle.

Firstly, West Ham forward Divin' Mubama. Maybe he could get us a few penalties.

Secondly, Centaur Media CEO Swag Mukerji. I'm not sure whether he inspires confidence or apprehension.

Anyone got any others?

Well, many names derive from jobs. So Jim the Carter became Jim Carter. Ditto Miller, Thatcher, Baker, etc, etc. That's a lot of people.

Some names may have been more polite if reversed: c.f. Kirwan.

In our times, Judge Judge or Cardinal Sin?

Although I suspect they might be made up ones...

Once upon a time I worked with an accountant called Angus Dick. In those days Word's spell checker didn't recognise his first name and used to delete the g. This led to some interesting sign-offs on his correspondence.

At the ripe old age of 22 I had a boss called Richard Head.

Unfortunately, he lived up to his name. I suppose it was all my fault as the clue was there at interview

I once had a neighbour on the marina whose name was Malcolm Thomas Head. A lot of his mail (in the communal mailbox) was addressed to Mr MT Head.

Amusingly accurate as he was a bit of a plank.

Ben from Dover is (or was) a respected poster on another forum I used to frequent.

He had been heard by several forum members introduced as such on a radio phone-in discussion relevant to the forum.

I used to know a Mary Christmas. (Parents can be so cruel. :| ) And apparently there's a New York lawyer called Sue Yoo.

Still hoping one day to meet Eileen Dover, the world-famous author of Tragedy on a Cliff. Or the director of Showdown in a Chinese Farmyard, Hu Flung Dung. Any self-respecting schoolchild will be able to reel off a dozen more.

Our local weather forecasts are often read by a Sara Blizzard.

And I've seen pics of a window cleaner's van with his name signwritten on it... Mr Bit but I have a feeling he uses an alias. :D

We've covered this a few months ago under "Apt Names".
