Digitallook on the move

Post by idpickering »

I use digitallook for all of my screening for likely HYP shares to add to my HYP, and use their portfolio tool too. It seems they're changing;
Dear readers,
We are glad to announce the launch of our new website, https://uk.webfg.com.
Full notice at the head of the page here;

http://www.digitallook.com/

I've had a sneaky look at the new site and it doesn't seem very user friendly, particularly with regard to screening shares. My HYP is held in an ISA with Halifax, and they offer a screener too, so may well be using that instead in the future. Any other pointers to good screening tools?

It's a shame and an end of an era for me, as I've used digitallook for years.

Ian.

Anyone else having a problem with HYPTUSS today?

Ian - what about using the Lemon's Stepone?

Moving to Financial Software board as more relevant as not HYP Specific. Will help those that produce the spreadsheets. Shadow left. Raptor.
Seems that the move is gradual. From HYPTUSS, SLA takes me to Digitallook but MCT takes me to the new web-site. Have not tried any updates.

Yep, it looks like DL have changed the website structure, which will break the current and earlier versions of the tool.

I've got the Excel version working with the new DL format, but I'll need to get in touch with Kiloran with regards the Open Office version, and all testing etc.

Hopefully it won't be too long until we've got a fix, so your patience is appreciated.

I suggest people keep their eyes on this board for any updates etc., although we'll also probably cross-post into HYP Practical / Strategies if there's any news.

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

Thanks monabri, but I'm going to go with the one on Halifax. Luckily, my HYP is just about a done deal so it'll be easier for me I guess.

I think you'll need to keep an eye on Halifax as a screen as it's just the DL engine with a Halifax badge.

Thanks kempiejon, that makes sense. Anywhere else worth looking at apart from those mentioned thus far anyone?

A quick search produced an easy to use screen via Shareview here;

Ian.
Another website designed and intended for smartphones - pretty much useless for normal investor requirements.
Since WFG took over DL it's been downhill all the way. They invite user input but what's the point - they don't listen or reply.

Thanks BobGe. I have been back since and am still not impressed. If you put up a portfolio just to monitor it costs you. Not for me thanks, but it's not the end of the World. I will use the screener at Shareview in the future, unless they have dealings with digitallook too. ;)

Not sure where you got that from. The Research+ is 'paid for', but to set up a portfolio is free - I've had my HYP portfolio set up on DL for years and not paid a penny...

Hi Bree. I've had mine set upon digitallook for years too, and it's very good. I meant on the new site. Can't find it there. I thought the new one was more a broker site via which you can buy and sell? Am I wrong?

I struggle to get past the log in part to view my portfolio? I thought this was connected to this new site being born or something?

I'm no expert in computers, have you noticed? lol

Looks like the registration/login for uk.webfg is completely separate and independent of the login/registration account held on digitallook.com. They are two different accounts on different sites. I have a bookmark for my portfolio so I still get the DL login page.

Doesn't look like they've 'joined up the dots' yet. my DL name/password doesn't work on webfg. A worrying sign... :(

If you can't log in, this is a direct link to the DL login page: http://www.digitallook.com/cgi-bin/dlmedia/login.cgi
Bookmark it while you still can :)

I've emailed the support for webfg asking about how to log in for my portfolio. I'll get back to you if/when I get a reply...

Did you try my DL log in page link? http://www.digitallook.com/cgi-bin/dlmedia/login.cgi

Here's a variant that takes you to your account's homepage after log in. http://www.digitallook.com/login.cgi?us ... sg=my_home

You could also try the original DigitalLook site http://www.digitallook.com/ click on 'My Account' and pick PORTFOLIOS & WATCHLIST from the left of the dropdown list, that should take you to http://www.digitallook.com/dlmedia/inve ... _investing via the log in screen.

If none of the above work, you may need to clear your cookies. A simple way to test if that would help is to use a Private Browsing session (this bypasses your cookies). To start one in any browser (except Chrome) use Ctrl+Shift+P (in Chrome it prints the page :))

Once more, thank you Bree. I've tried all of the ways you've listed but to no avail. I'm interested if you get a reply from them.

Odd. The portfolio is certainly still up and running, I'm logged into mine right now.

At what point does it fail? Do you see the login screen here? http://www.digitallook.com/login.cgi?us ... sg=my_home

Does it fail to recognise your name/password? Apart from the obvious (check your spelling :)) you could also check if your keyboard is set for the wrong language, for example if you use the £ sign in your password on a UK keyboard set to a US layout that would turn into #.

If you can type the password, click the 'eye' icon that appears in the right of the password box to check you actually typed what you intended to. The one thing you don't need to check is Caps Lock - the password isn't case-sensitive.

If all else fails, there's an 'I've forgotten my password!' link next to the Login button.
