Family savings for a young child

Post by DeBriefed »

Hi All,

We're in the fortunate position that my father in law has just passed on some family money to my daughter (age 2). She has a JISA already funded - and this is above the JISA limit so we can't just hold it for next year, for example.

Is anybody aware of good savings vehicles for children? We would be open to index-tracker type stock market investments or savings/fixed income products. Keep meaning to do research but baby number 2 is due to arrive in a couple of months and MIL is in poor health and likely will need to move in the near future, so it constantly falls down the priority list - if anybody already has ideas on this we would be most grateful!

It depends what you want it for, what you thin she would want it for, whether you need access to it, how else you are going to save etc.

How about a pension?
